Using uniform sized boxes can also make your move easier. If you’re wondering where to get boxes, you may want to ask friends and family if they ever have boxes being recycled at work. Workplaces that order products in bulk are a moving box gold mine! Clearly labeling your boxes will also make your life much easier.

Should You Hire a Professional?

If you’re moving from a condo or a small townhome, you may not feel that your move will require a moving company. However, let us stress again to not underestimate the amount of work, time and energy that goes into moving. Your best bet is to save yourself the stress (and the back ache) and budget for movers when you’re initially crunching numbers for listing your home. We know this may not be possible for everyone, however, if you can budget and have the extra means for movers, it is worth it!

Many consider simply renting a moving truck, however, this still requires you to move everything in and out of the truck. This is still very physically demanding and requires you to enlist the help of friends and family with the move. Unfortunately, rental truck companies also often have hidden fees that get tacked on when you return the truck. Some other costs may include fuel costs, insurance costs and meal costs (like pizza & beer!)
